![]() ![]() If I wanted to marry someone in a video game that didn’t look like a bachelorette, I would’ve played the girl version. I don’t see how she’s likable, let alone trustworthy. I only married Muffy to have a change of pace from the boring Celia, and Nami may be smart, but she’s always serious and DULL not seeming to be capable of caring about anyone. Every time I go digging in the ” mine ” for artifacts, I wonder why the hell I can’t marry Flora! I like her hairstyle, and she would’ve given you a kid that had scholar as his natural inclination. ![]() Muffy’s even called basically an idiot in the manual. I don’t need to see the camera zoom in on Muffy, the horribly named blonde girl who’s one of ONLY THREE BACHELORETTES in this game and none of them I really like. I don’t need to be introduced to Rock the blond who’s too stupid to realize his Asian parents adopted him – though I do love his necklace and cheerful attitude. Why did the programmers think I need this? Any player would’ve explored the town and seen the villagers on their OWN, and obviously you’d feel better about doing that WHEN YOU WANT, at your OWN PACE, which would be after your farm work is done. But does he introduce you to all of them at ONCE in a town festival or something? NOOOOOO! There’s only a few villagers or even one measly villager between every fade to black. That’s a really minor compliment, that should be standard.Īnyways, if it wasn’t bad enough that he wasted your time with everything else like you’re an idiot, he actually wastes your time even more by introducing you to a bunch of villagers. But I like that so far, I’ve been able to actually name everything what I want without running out of space. It’s a bit easier than you’d think to go bring the cursor to the wrong letter with the analog stick. The name selection screen has slippery controls. I hate that when the two dogs run up to you, Pointy-Eared Dog is the DEFAULT option, when I would only want the floppy-eared one. The second that I saw it, I wondered why the hell the text doesn’t scroll on its OWN instead of forcing me to put the controller on the floor and mash the A button with my toe, while I’m doing something actually worthwhile. It drains all of your energy and excitement. When your players start a game, you want them to immediately be hooked, and excited to play, but a long boring series of unnecessary cutscenes you can’t skip or even speed up the TEXT in does the opposite. I can walk into these buildings myself and see what they are in seconds. Then he wastes my time walking over with me to the coop, barn, building with the shipping bin and the tool shed and he tells me what EVERYTHING is when Harvest Moon 3 and other games settled with having a sign there that you could read, telling you what everything is without a cutscene. But instead, for some reason your character only get asked his name when he’s about to introduce you to other people. You’d think that when your character and Takura were standing in front of the pasture at the start, THAT would be when you’d name your character because Takura would ask you your name. I don’t need Takura to show me every single part of the farm and tell me what it is. I immediately pressed Start wishing I could just skip this. I always did, maybe because it’s shorter and both words sound like totally unfamiliar names to me. ![]() So, what’s the point of wasting my time? It’s really boring having to mash A through ALL of this TEXT! I’ll be calling Takakura ” Takura ” from now on. At least when you start a new file, the game automatically has the file you’re playing in selected when you try to save, so you won’t save over your old file by mistake after starting a new one.įirst off, you start out and you see a beach with no one there and what’s revealed to be Takakura is talking to… your character’s father or grandfather, even though he’s not alive anymore. There’s no reason for it to take this long. That’s because the game has the slowest, most boring intro of a Harvest Moon game up to this point. I went into it again, and was soul-crushingly bored right from the moment I started the game. I never really tried with it and gave it a chance before. I just bought Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life again, after I threw out the disc a long time ago for ALWAYS crashing instead of going past the credits of the Twilight chapter. ![]()
